How did you get into the business and what was your path like to Texas A&M?Â
"I was a Nutritional Sciences major at Cornell University and a four-year member of the women's lacrosse team. It was at Cornell that I discovered my passion for nutrition and realized I could make a career out of two things that I loved, sports and nutrition. After Cornell, I went to the State University of New York at Buffalo to complete my dietetic internship to become a Registered Dietitian, as well as my Master's degree in Nutrition. I then worked at the University of Georgia and James Madison University before starting at Texas A&M University as the Assistant Director of Performance Nutrition in August of 2018. In my current role, I work with the volleyball, baseball, equestrian, and men's and women's basketball teams."
What's your favorite part about working with collegiate athletes?
"Nutrition can provide athletes with a competitive advantage when used properly. I love teaching collegiate athletes how to use food as fuel to optimize performance and recovery. I enjoy working in a fast-paced, competitive environment where I can support my athletes as they strive to achieve their goals and win championships."
Â
How are you helping athletes during this time?
"The Performance Nutrition Department has been sending our athletes educational materials on various nutrition topics, cooking demos/videos from our culinary intern Shannon, and engaging with them via social media. I have also been staying in touch with my athletes via zoom calls and Teamworks/text messaging to help them navigate these times and support their fueling at home."
