Junior defensive specialist Allison Fields sat down and discussed next season.
What does your typical quarantine schedule look like?
"Scheduling wise, typically if I were in College Station, I usually always go to 7 a.m. breakfast at the Slocum Nutrition Center and then I go to my classes. But now that we're in quarantine I usually just sleep in until about 8:30 a.m. and I'll wake up, have some coffee, and then I'll come into my dad's study and I'll do homework for the day. Then depending on how I feel usually nighttime is the time I'll either watch movies with my family, watch TV with my family, or we'll cook dinner together. One hobby that I've been working on is cooking and baking. I've been practicing a lot, doing different things. I love food so trying to figure out how it all works and stuff. One of my goals in my future is to open up my own bakery so I feel like this is the time to bake away, but hopefully I don't get fat by doing it."
How is the volleyball team keeping in contact?
"We have Zoom calls with our coaches and we'll all Zoom together and talk about how life is going, sometimes we'll play a Kahoot! game. Our captain, Camille Conner, she texted us all three weeks ago and said that we're going to have buddies on our team each week, so every week you'll have someone different, like an accountability partner, I guess. So you text them, Facetime them, Snapchat them, and ask them how they're doing mentally and school-wise, and just trying to get to know each other better."
"So we've been doing those accountability partners and then we have our Snapchat group chat. We're always snapping each other random things so we're definitely staying connected any way we can. Our team is full of heart and everyone on our team knows what they need to give so that when we get back we can be the best we can be. I don't think there's anyone on our team that would slack off because they know that they have the team on their back. So that's a huge positive with our team, is that we're so connected that it's in the back of everyone's mind that, 'We need to give 110% percent today so that when we get back it's for the team.'"
What do you miss most about normal life?
"I miss having to walk to class. Having to walk past the Academic Plaza all the way to Blocker. I actually miss those walks and I used to complain about it all the time. I miss studying at the libraries for finals. I've never missed it more. Usually the library, I try and stay away from it, but I miss going with my teammates to the Med. Sci. Library or Evans and just studying, eating junk food and studying some more."
"I knew I loved A&M and everything about it, but I didn't realize how much I loved A&M until everything got taken away from me. I miss College Station, I miss the Slocum Nutrition Center to eat breakfast. I miss the egg man… he's the greatest guy ever. I just miss everything about A&M and I really hope football comes back on because I feel like I'm missing so much from my college experience by all this happening, but it is what it is."
