The Texas A&M volleyball team released this statement on Friday in light of events around the country.
Aggie Volleyball is a team that stands on some important values. Family, Choice, and Voice. We love each member of our program as if they were family. When one member of our family is hurt, we all hurt. Our choice of healing is to use our voices. Voices for change in a nation of violence and racism.Â
Elie Wiesel once said, "Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Wherever men and women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must become the center of the universe."
