Texas A&M Softball released this unified statement on Tuesday via social media.
We at Texas A&M softball want to take a moment to talk about something that is bigger than us. The platform we've built at Texas A&M gives us the opportunity to speak out and make a difference, not only within our school, but within our community.
The social injustice going on in our country is something that affects us all. We stand not only with our Black teammates, but also with the Black community in facing these injustices.
A phrase we had embodied during the 2020 season was Stronger As One. This slogan now has a much deeper meaning. It is not effective unless all of us collectively use our voices to speak up in support of Black lives.Â
United we stand, divided we fall. We will not be silent, nor will we be passive. We will not ignore what is going on around us. We will speak up. We will stand up even if no one around us is. We will be heard.Â
We are teammates. We are not only friends. We are sisters. We are more than athletes. We are family. We are stronger as one.Â
