Men’s Tennis Picks Up Five Wins on Day One of TCU Invitational

FORT WORTH, Texas – Texas A&M men's tennis posted five wins across six matches on day one of the TCU Invitational Friday at TCU's Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. Joining the Aggies and Horned Frogs in the metroplex are student-athletes from Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Baylor with play scheduled to conclude Sunday.
The Aggies opened the day perfect in doubles action as Noah Schachter and Stefan Storch topped Luke Hammond and Emile Hudd of Oklahoma State before Barnaby Smith and Pierce Rollins bested the split squad of Etienne Donnet (OSU) and Eduardo Roldan (TCU).
In singles action, Storch, Smith and Rollins posted wins against foes from the 40 acres. Storch topped Nevin Arimilli 5-7, 6-3, 7-6, Smith ousted Chih Chi Huang 6-2, 6-3 and Rollins defeated Leighton Allen 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. A&M lone setback on the day came in three sets as Texas' Cleeve Harper edged Schachter 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.
Play resumes at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and will conclude Sunday morning.
