...opening statement:
"I'm proud of our guys, going on the road to get the win. In the SEC a 14-point win is a very good win, Mississippi State has always been a hard place to play for us and they came in here and did a great job. A couple years ago we came in here and lost a tough one in kind of a same situation coming off of some good wins, I'm very proud of them tonight. I thought our defense was outstanding, I thought they tackled well and kept great presence on the ball. We had six sacks, created turnovers to set up points and got an interception in the endzone. I just thought they played an outstanding football game, we had one little break down at the end. On special teams, the punter had some really big punts, kickoffs were good and we had a couple nice punt returns but then we get a blocked punt that sets up with a score and then we get three penalties on one play. We know we can't crack block them days are over with, we get a block in the back and we jump over a shield which is ridiculous and that was a big possession in the game because we just went up 14-0 and we were going to get the ball back with more control over the game and get going. We could've gotten a score there and come out the second half, we never got the ball back. Offensively we are too inconsistent, I thought we ran the ball well at times and at times we didn't. I though Spiller ran it well, Ainias ran it well, Achane came in and did a really nice job. Offensive line for the most part did well, we didn't have any sacks."
...on the defensive line's effort:
"Physicality up front, we got sacks at times with three men pressures, we batted balls and then we brought simulated pressures and had backers and safeties coming. We mixed it up and did a really good job, Mike [Elko] did a really good job on the game plan and keeping it mixed. When you control the line of scrimmage and I thought that's what we did on the day, it was a great day by them."
...on responding with a touchdown after the pick 6:
"It was grit, it was determination and it was a lack of panic, it's confidence in yourself to get right back to next play and that was big."
...on if team's meeting expectations and chances to improve:
"I don't ever expect anything, I just kind of watch and see where we go. What I expect is perfection, we're not anywhere close to that. We have a lot of room to work, we got holes in all three phases but we got some really good players who can do some things in all three phases. We have to learn to play with more consistency and we have to get some schemes down and get some young guys keep developing for depth in what we're trying to do. We've got a lot of work to do, we're nowhere close to where we can be. It's very encouraging to me that we're 3-1 right now and to see we have a lot of room to improve."
