Aggie Football Q&A: Ainias Smith
Oct 06, 2020 | Football
Sophomore running back Ainias Smith, who made the move to the backfield from wide receiver prior to the Texas Bowl, sat down for this week's Aggie Football Q&A.
What is your first football memory?
My first year of little league football, I was 9 or 10, and we lost our bowl game. It was a tough loss, we thought we were going to win coming in and we ended up losing.
What are your goals for this season and how can you help the team?
My goal is to be the best that I can be and make sure that my team can be the best that we can be. If we're at our best I believe that nobody can stop us. Once I improve my leadership skills and accept that role, I believe I'll start impacting the team a lot more.
What do you like to do away from football?
I'm strong in my faith and I like to talk to God and talk to myself. I like to draw whatever comes to mind, recently I drew a tattoo that I was thinking about getting. It would be my first tattoo. I also like to play video games like Call of Duty, Madden and NBA2k.
What was your favorite sports team growing up, what made you like them?
The Dallas Cowboys, my parents have always liked the Cowboys and it was just a family thing. I kind of grew on my own to like the Atlanta Falcons, they have always had great receivers, I always looked up to Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley.
Who was your favorite athlete growing up?
It was probably Ed Reed because of how intense he was on the field and how hard he went on the practice field.
Do you have any pre game rituals?
No specific rituals but I usually jog down and back, then I stretch and make sure my mind is getting ready for the game throughout all my stretching and getting loose. After that I will catch with Kellen [Mond] and do some footwork drills.
Are you more hyped up or lowkey during pregame and what music are you listening to?
I'm always more hyped, I love to get the energy going. I'm definitely listening to rap, I like Gunna, YoungBoy and Lil Baby.
What are you most looking forward to this season?
I'm looking forward to seeing everybody's improvement. We have all been working hard this offseason and I'm ready to see the work that we've put in.
