BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M Aggies' star defender Jimena Lopez earned a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women's Team of the Week for the second time in 2020, the organization announced Tuesday.
Lopez anchored the Aggies' backline from the left back position as the Maroon & White allowed just four shots-on-goal in their wins against LSU and Auburn as Texas A&M wrapped up the fall regular-season slate on a six-match win streak.
In their 2-0 win vs. Auburn, the Aggies put up their league-leading fourth shutout of the season. Lopez also contributed on the offensive end of the pitch, scoring the game-winning goal in Friday's 2-1 victory against LSU and assisting on both goals against Auburn. On the last day of the regular-season, the Aggies moved into first place in the league in goals-against average at 0.63.
Lopez also earned a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women's Team of the Week on October 13. The Maroon & White have had players named to the team in six of the eight weeks this season. Addie McCain, Barbara Olivieri, Lauren Geczik and Karlina Sample have also been chosen for the honor in 2020.
The Aggies won a share of their third SEC regular-season crown, finishing the fall slate on a six-match win streak to close out league play at 7-1-0. The Maroon & White return to action on Tuesday, November 17 as the No. 3 seed at the SEC Tournament in Orange Beach, Alabama.
