This week Isaiah Spiller, who leads the SEC in rushing yards per game and has been a key contributor through A&M's five-game win streak, sits down for the Aggie Football Q&A.Â
Why did you come to Texas A&M?
I came to Texas A&M because I knew that I'd have the opportunity to play early in my career. The coaching staff really recruited me hard and my father also played here.Â
Â
What's the best thing about Kyle Field?
I love the fans, the 12th Man makes the atmosphere at Kyle Field that much better. Even during this season they have stepped up a lot and the crowd hasn't dropped off compared to last year.
Â
Who is the last person on our defense you'd want to have to go against?
The whole defense is a force, but Buddy [Johnson] is a great tackler and DeMarvin [Leal] because he's so active.
Â
How would you describe Tommie Robinson as a coach?
He has a story for everything and he's very energetic with a positive mindset and positive vibes, he's a great guy.
Â
How do you try to be a leader to those around you?
I lead by example, I'm not really a vocal leader. I feel like me doing my work everyday will help those around me learn how to practice and how to carry themselves.
Â
Who have you learned the most from since being here?
I've learned from a lot of different people, Coach Fisher, Coach Graham and Coach Robinson this year. They've shown me how to be a complete player and how to carry myself on and off the field with my character.Â
Â
Who was your favorite athlete growing up?
Most definitely Adrian Peterson, I liked the way he ran with the ball and he was a hard worker.
Â
What do you like to do away from football?
I like to go fishing when I can, my dad and I are big fishers. I like listening to music and making music.
Â
What is your mood before the game and do you have any pre-game rituals?
I'm very low key, that's just my personality. I usually take time to reflect and pray before the game, that is probably my only pre-game ritual.
