Aggie Football Q&A: Jayden Peevy
Dec 16, 2020 | Football
Senior leader and a veteran on the defensive line, Jayden Peevy sits down for this week's Aggie Football Q&A.
What made you come to Texas A&M?
It's only an hour away from home, I'm from Houston, and I've always wanted to play in the SEC. I just felt like Aggieland is the best place to be.
Does your family come to a lot of games?
Of course, they come to home and away games. Because of COVID this year they have been limited and have not been able to make the away games, but they love coming to my games.
What's the best thing about Kyle Field?
The 12th Man. Coming out of the tunnel and seeing everybody cheering. Even when we're down, the 12th Man still has your back. Even with the reduced capacity we can still hear them loud and clear.
Who do you think you've learned the most from since being here?
Zaycoven Henderson and Daylon Mack were the older guys ahead of me when I first got here and they showed me the ropes, Justin Madubuike as well.
How would you describe Coach Elijah Robinson?
He's a great guy and he understands us. He's a younger guy, but he always pushes us to be our best on and off the field.
Who is the hardest person to go against from our O-Line?
Layden Robinson, that's my guy and we battle every day. He's one of the strongest offensive linemen we have and he's a backup, which is surprising to a lot of people, but our O-Line is really good.
Who was your favorite athlete growing up?
LeBron James, I wanted to be a basketball player growing up. He was always one of the guys that I looked up to because of his leadership skills and passion for the game.
How would you describe yourself as a leader?
I'm more of a lead by example type of guy but I have just started to learn to be more vocal this past season. A lot of people watch how hard I work and say they want to be like that, so I'm definitely more lead by example.
Are you more low key or hype during pre-game and do you have any rituals?
I get a little hype and I like to listen to music. When we go out early for the pre-game I usually stretch and do a little dance with my teammates.
