At Texas A&M…
Jeff Brown earned varsity letters for longtime Aggie head coach Bob Ellis's golf teams in 1995, 1996 and 1997.
Brown was on the Aggies' NCAA Regionals team all three seasons and helped the team to the NCAA Championship as a junior and senior.
In 124 rounds of golf during his collegiate career, Brown's scores counted an amazing 112 times (90.3 percent). Among players since 1994 with more than 100 counters, he is one of five players with higher than 90 percent rate (others are Chandler Phillips, Stephen Reed, Ryan Palmer and Andrea Pavan)
As a junior in 1996, the Aggies placed 21st at the NCAA Championships, as Tiger Woods of Stanford won the individual title.
As a senior in 1997, Brown was the Aggies' second-highest finisher at 36th (70-75-76-71) as the team finished in 13th place.
During his career, Brown helped the Aggies to three team victories – the 1994 Windon Memorial Classic, the 1995 Crown Colony Invitational and the 1996 NCAA Regional Championship at the University of Michigan Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Mich.
He posted an individual victory at the 1997 Border Olympics in Laredo with rounds of 71-70-68 = 209.
The Brown Family Since graduation …
"I have been working at PING Golf since 2003. I began in customer service and in 2004 I moved into our Tour Department in a role where I have the privilege managing our Junior Development Program. I travel around the country about 25 to 30 weeks out of the year. The travel entails evaluating junior golfers as well as fitting players with PING golf clubs. The job is very rewarding in the sense of having the opportunity to meet young players and then watching them develop on and off the golf course. As part of my job, I also visit college campuses and fortunately that gets me back to Texas A&M.
What is your favorite Texas A&M memory?
"The memory that stands out is 2009 when Bronson Burgoon hit the famous shot heard around the world for all Aggies! It was in Toledo, Ohio at Inverness Golf Club. I will always remember shaking Coach J.T. Higgins' hand there and congratulating him on bringing a National Championship to Texas A&M. There are many players that come to mind such as Bronson, Jordan Russell, Martin Piller and Cameron Champ, as players that I was able to meet as juniors and then play their college golf at Texas A&M. I could go on and on about the different players that have come through Aggie Golf as I have had a front row seat and for that I am a blessed man." Jeff Brown with son, Jeffrey What Jeff is up to now …
"I live in Phoenix, Arizona, which is where PING Golf is located. I married an Aggie (Jamie) in May of 2009 and we have one son, Jeffrey (9 years old). We get back to Aggieland at least once a year for a football game and even started a new tradition of getting back for a baseball weekend, as well, as baseball is my son's favorite sport. We had plans of flying in this past March to watch the Aggies beat the t-sips in baseball until the virus changed our plans.
"I enjoyed my time while in Aggieland, and still to this day love coming back to see how it has changed visually, but also how the Spirit and what the school stands for has not changed."
