Aggie Women Remain No. 2, Men Move Up in USTFCCCA Rating Index

The track & field women's team remained No. 2 in the Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Associations indoor track & field national ratings index, the men's team moved up to No. 10 in the country.

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M track & field women's team remained No. 2 in the Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Associations indoor track & field national ratings index, the men's team moved up to No. 10 in the country.
 
The Texas A&M women's team has 12 marks ranked in the top 10, including three NCAA-leading marks. Freshman Athing Mu leads the nation in the 800m (2:01.07), while junior Tyra Gittens leads in the high jump (1.91m/6-3.25) and the pentathlon (4,612). Gittens is ranked No. 3 in the long jump (6.62m/21-8.75).
 
Deborah Acquah, Laila Owens, Syaira Richardson, Kaylah Robinson, Zhane Smith and Charokee Young each rank in the top 10 in their respective events. The 4x400m of Jania Martin, Richardson, Young and Mu is No. 2 in the country at 3:31.09.
 
Acquah is No. 2 in the long jump (6.65m/21-10) and No. 4 in the triple jump (13.75m/45-1.5). Smith is No. 10 in the long jump at 6.30m/20-8. The trio of Gittens, Acquah and Smith is the No. 2 long jump group in the event squad rankings.
 
Robinson and Owens rank No. 7 in the nation, Robinson in the 60m hurdles at 8.16 and Owens in the 200m at 23.31. Young and Richardson rank in the top 10 of the 400m, Young No. 4 at 52.64 and Richardson No. 8 at 52.92.
 
The A&M men moved up one spot from last week to No. 10. Redshirt senior, Bryce Deadmon leads the charge for the Maroon & White. The Missouri City, Texas, native leads the NCAA in the 400m at 45.29. His time is second in the world behind Aggie pro Fred Kerley (45.03)
 
The quartet of Jake Lanier, James Smith, Jr., Moitalel Mpoke and Deadmon have clocked the second fastest 4x400m in the nation at 3:06.28.
 
Sophomore Connor Schulman and freshman Brandon Miller rank No. 6 in the NCAA in their respective events, Schulman in the 60m hurdles (7.80, converted to 7.82) and Miller in the 800m (1:48.94, converted to 1:48.63).
 
Freshman Allon Clay is No. 10 in the 800m (1:49.60, converted to 1:49.29).
 
A&M returns to action Saturday, Feb. 6 to host its final home meet of the indoor season at the Gilliam Indoor Stadium.
