Track & Field
  • Bryce Deadmon and Team USA won gold in the men's 4x400m relay, recording the fourth-fastest time ever of 2:55.70. Earlier in the week, Deadmon also earned bronze in the mixed 4x400m relay.
  • Athing Mu, the 800m gold medalist, won her second gold of the Olympics as Team USA's women's 4x400m relay recorded a time of 3:16.85. Mu ran a 48.32 final leg split, the fastest split of all competitors in the race.
  • Deon Lendore and Trinidad & Tobago placed 8th in the men's 4x400m relay final with a time of 3:00.85.
 
Men's Basketball
  • Khris Middleton became one of six players since NBA players were allowed to play in the summer games in 1992 to win an NBA Championship & Olympic Gold Medal in the same year.
  • Middleton recorded four points, one rebound and one assist in 10 minutes of play in Team USA's 87-82 win over France for the gold medal.
  • The A&M alum finished the Olympics with a combined stat line of 35 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and five steals.
