Equestrian to Hold Open Horsemanship Tryouts

The No. 5 Texas A&M equestrian team will hold tryouts beginning immediately. The tryout will fill a Horsemanship walk-on position.

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 5 Texas A&M equestrian team will hold tryouts beginning immediately. The tryout will fill a Horsemanship walk-on position.
 
Those wishing to tryout must have experience with showing in Horsemanship and can submit a video of their ride to assistant coach Suzy Jeane (sjeane@athletics.tamu.edu). Following video review, those with the preferred skillset will be asked to tryout at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.
 
Candidates must be female students, enrolled in at least 12 hours at Texas A&M with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 and need to have advanced training in Horsemanship.
 
2021-22 Texas A&M Horsemanship Tryout Information
  • Must have advanced riding experience in Horsemanship
  • Submit a tryout video to Suzy Jeane (sjeane@athletics.tamu.edu)
  • In-person tryouts will be scheduled individually, there will not be an informational meeting
  • Must be enrolled in at least 12 hours of class at Texas A&M, College Station (Full-Time Students)
  • Your cumulative or high school GPA must be at least a 3.0 and meet the percentage for degree requirement established by the NCAA.
  • Must be cleared on eligibility issues, by compliance, and by medical staff.
  • Per NCAA rules, you MUST provide us with a Sickle Cell Test result. Results can take up to a week of lab processing time. You can obtain one at a medical facility of your choice or at Student Health Services. You will NOT be allowed to try-out without providing results of this test.
  • All candidates must obtain and provide copies of their health insurance, front and back copies of card. Insurance will be verified prior to tryouts.
  • Spots are not guaranteed.
