Stepanek Leads A&M on Day Two of Art Adamson Invite

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M women's swimming team closed out day two of the Art Adamson Invitational Thursday night at the Rec Center Natatorium. The Aggies remain in second with 650.5 points, while USC leads the event with 721.5 points through two days of competition. The Aggies registered six NCAA-qualifying B-cut times on day two.
The Aggies started finals off with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay. Kaitlyn Owens, Andrea Perttula, Olivia Theall and Chloe Stepanek clocked a time of 1:39.06.
Alice Marini notched a personal-best time of 4:18.25 in the 400 IM to place fourth. Abigail Ahrens (4:19.67) and Emme Nelson (4:24.09) also recorded career-best times in the 400 IM final, while Joelle Reddin clocked a personal-best 4:19.58 in prelims.
In the 100 fly, Theall finished second after posting a career-best and B-cut time of 52.90. Sarah Holt swam a season-best 53.49 to place fifth and earn a B-cut time.
Stepanek earned her sixth individual first-place finish of the year as she took the top spot in the 200 free, racing a B-cut time of 1:45.16.
In the 100 breast, Charlotte Longbottom recorded a B-cut and personal-best time of 1:00.83 to place fifth.
Owens added a runner-up finish in the 100 back with a time of 53.64 to close out the individual events on day two.
The 800 free relay team of Abby Grottle, Mollie Wright, Sarah Szklaruk Traipe, Stepanek wrapped up day two with a second-place finish (7:13.63).
The Aggies return tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. for prelims. The mile will follow at 2:30 p.m. with finals starting at 5:30 p.m. for day three of the Art Adamson Invitational.
