KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Texas A&M standout Katie Smith earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-West Region squad, released Thursday.

Smith was also recognized for her classroom excellence in November when she was one of seven Aggies to garner CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 recognition. The junior defender holds a 3.462 grade-point average as a business major.

The Tulsa, Oklahoma, native started all 18 games along the backline for the Maroon & White, playing a team-high 1,500 minutes. She played the entirety of 15 of the 18 matches. Smith's career numbers include 57 Aggie caps and nine assists, including seven in her freshman campaign.

Smith earned United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Second Team as a defender earlier in the month, as well as being named All-SEC Second Team in October.
