Aggies Wrap Up Day Two of SECs
Apr 15, 2021 | Women's Golf
HOOVER, Ala. – Texas A&M women's golf finished round two of the Southeastern Conference Championship in 12th place at the Greystone Legacy Golf Course on Thursday.
"Our par five scoring has been a weakness for us this tournament, and we need to be more aggressive there," Head coach Andrea Gaston said. "It was great to see Courtney and Blanca do well today. Courtney didn't have the best start, but she really fought back in the second nine to get under par. Blanca showed a lot of fight as well and finished the day strong. We need to go out tomorrow and leave it all out there and play aggressively."
Courtney Dow (68-71—139) maintained her solid play, finishing the day 1-under 71 and tied for 16th. The senior was 2-over heading into the final seven holes of the day, but sank three birdies to complete the round and keep her top-10 hopes alive.
Blanca Fernández García-Poggio (73-70—143) led the team in round two, shooting 2-under 70 to improve 10 spots in the player leaderboards from yesterday. The Spaniard now stands tied for 34th heading into the final round.
Brooke Tyree (73-75—148) is tied for 51st. Amber Park (77-76—153) and Ava Schwienteck (78-77—155) are tied for 63rd and 65th, respectively.
Texas A&M finished the day in 12th place, shooting a 4-over 292 as a team in the second round.
The Aggies will begin round three tomorrow at 9:10 a.m. CT.
