Trio of Aggies Earn All-SEC Honors

Texas A&M women's golfers Blanca Fernández García-Poggio, Adela Cernousek and Brooke Tyree earned All-Southeastern Conference honors, the league announced Thursday.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Texas A&M women's golfers Blanca Fernández García-Poggio, Adela Cernousek and Brooke Tyree earned All-Southeastern Conference honors, the league announced Thursday.
 
Fernández García-Poggio highlighted the group, garnering the first All-SEC First Team selection of her career. The junior's first-team accolade is the first for the program since Maddie Szeryk in 2018. The Madrid, Spain, native boasts a 71.85 stroke average, the seventh best in the conference, and won the Sam Golden Invitational with a program record 14-under. Fernández García-Poggio has eight top-20 performances and helped lead the team to its first NCAA Championship berth since 2015.
 
Cernousek was named to the All-Freshman Team is the first for the program since Courtney Dow in 2017. The Antibes, France, native is second among league rookies in stroke average (72.03) and ninth among all players in the conference. Cernousek tied for third at The Ally where she carded an 11-under 205. Cernousek has finished in the top-20 on five occasions this season.
 
Tyree earned a spot on the All-SEC Community Service Team for the second-consecutive season. She logged community service hours with the Brazos Valley Boys & Girls Club and Aggies CAN, the largest student-athlete volunteer run canned food drive in the nation. She is a fixture on A&M's campus, holding leadership roles with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), WE3 and Traditions Night. With WE3, she helps encourage, equip and empower female student-athletes on campus through networking and educational events.
 
The Aggies are set to return to the NCAA Championship in Scottsdale, Arizona, at the Grayhawk Gold Club for the first time since the 2015 season. They are fresh off an epic six-stroke comeback at the NCAA Franklin Regional in the final round to earn a chance at an NCAA title.
