G Guerrieri addressed the press inside the Kyle Field Media Center Monday morning fresh off a three-win-week on the Ellis Field pitch.

Coach discussed some early season observations on his group, Saturday's annual Fish Camp Match, and the opportunity to go on the road and get a pair of wins against Big Ten opponents.

Some takeaways from the media session and full video are available below.

Notes & Quotes:

Guerrieri opened by showing appreciation for the historical attendance number posted by the 12th Man at last Saturday's New Mexico State match. The attendance was 6,086, the third-largest crowd in school history. The tally ranks 11th all-time in NCAA women's soccer history for a regular-season match. Additionally, Texas A&M holds six of the top 20 most attended NCAA women's regular season matches.

“[It was] a great experience, especially for our young players, because, sometimes we take it for granted of what the 12th Man is about. But the experience for our girls on Saturday night was really pretty cool."

Guerrieri was complimentary of the Aggies' defensive showing thus far, having allowed only one goal through four matches. He attributed the experience of the veteran back line and the “hellish” approach the team takes towards their aggressive play.

“The way that we pressurize, the way that we overwhelm people on the ball, through our athleticism, through just our tenacity to get kind of get in your face and try to take the ball off you…being able to win the ball further up the field gives us more opportunities further up the field."

To conclude, Coach G mentioned one of the team's core motivating points for the year, coming off a 2021 season devastated by injury. With this attitude, the group is eager to get on the road for a tough week of competition.

“All of those players now are a year older and all of those players are a year more irritated at what happened last year. Our players are talking about a ‘revenge tour’… so you can see kind of that edge to the way the players are going into every game that, you know, they're out prove something."
