RARE AIR FOR TAYLOR IV
Sophomore guard Wade Taylor IV, the 6-foot dynamo from Dallas, Texas, led the Aggies in scoring (15.0), assists (3.4) and steals (2.9) through the first month of the season.
- The last Aggie to achieve the rare trifecta for an entire season was Acie Law IV, who did it in consecutive years in 2005-06 and 2006-07.
- Since 1974-75 when Texas A&M began recording steals as a statistic, just seven players have finished as the team leader in points, assists and steals in the same season with three of them being Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Famers.
TRENDS & STREAKS
- The Aggies have posted 69 thefts in the first seven games (9.9/gm), which is tied for No. 26 nationally/No. 5 in the SEC. The Aggies have posted nine or more steals in their last six games, including a season-best 16 vs. Loyola Chicago.
- Wade Taylor IV has been the Aggies' most active thief with an average of 2.86 steals per game, which ties for No. 11 nationally/No. 4 in the SEC. Since producing zero steals in the season-opener, Taylor has generated at least two in each of the past six games, including a season-high six vs. DePaul.
- Taylor was a giver as well as a taker against SMU with a career-high nine assists against the Mustangs. The 6-foot dynamo has 14 dishes in his past two games.
- The Aggies have had fewer turnovers than their opponents in every game in 2022-23, including a season-low nine vs. SMU in the team's most recent game. It was the seventh time in the Aggies' last 50 games that they achieved single-digit turnovers.
- Texas A&M is averaging nearly six fewer turnovers per game than its opponents this season (5.9).
- Texas A&M has scored 75 or more points in six of seven games. The lone outlier was a 67-point effort in the win over Loyola Chicago.
- Junior Andersson Garcia has been a rebounding force off the bench for the Aggies. He ranks second on the team with 32 rebounds (4.6/G) in just 14.6 minutes per game. Garcia's rebounding numbers averaged per 40 minutes would be 12.6.
- Early season rotations have 11 Aggies averaging double-digit minutes. Four players are averaging 20-plus minutes -- Tyrece Radford, Dexter Dennis, Wade Taylor and Henry Coleman III.
TIDBITS
- The Aggies' starting lineup has had at least two Louisiana natives in it for every game with the presence of graduates Tyrece Radford (Baton Rouge) and Dexter Dennis (Baker). Additionally, freshman Solomon Washington (New Orleans) has joined them in the starting lineup five times.
- Buzz Williams' coaching/support staff has been together for a combined 80 seasons of experience.
- The Aggies have a pair of 1,000 points/500 rebounds players on the roster – Dennis and Radford.
- Other milestones achieved already this season are Henry Coleman III reaching 500 points/300 rebounds and Wade Taylor IV hitting the 400 points/100 assists plateaus.
TEXAS A&M-BOISE STATE SERIES
- It will be Texas A&M's first meeting vs. Boise State.
- The Aggies and Broncos both competed in the Myrtle Beach Invitational last month. The teams did not play each other but faced two common opponents -- Colorado and Loyola Chicago. Boise State beat Loyola, 70-48, in the consolation second round and then took down the Buffaloes, 68-55, in the fifth place game.
- The Aggies and Broncos matchup will be followed by a contest between St. Mary's (Calif.) and Houston at 8:30 p.m.
ON THE AIR
- The game will be televised by ESPNU with Kevin Brown and Jon Crispin on the call.
- The matchup airs on the Texas A&M Radio Network or locally on 1620 AM/94.5 FM with Andrew Monaco and Dr. John Thornton calling the action.
