SEATTLE – The No. 12 Texas A&M men's tennis fell 4-0 to No. 2 Tennessee at the Seattle Tennis Club in the opening round of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships Friday afternoon. After the setback, the Aggies are set to take on No. 8 Stanford Saturday at 11 a.m. in the consolation draw.

Tennessee claimed the doubles point to open the match, marking just the second time this season that the Aggies suffered a pair of doubles defeats this season. Johannus Monday and Mark Wallner topped A&M's Raphael Perot and Giulio Perego on court three, 6-4, before the point was clinched by UT's No. 13 Emile Hudd and Shunsuke Mitsui earned a 7-5 result over A&M's No. 33 Austin Abbrat and Noah Schachter on the top court.

The Vols doubles their lead through a 6-2, 6-2 win by No. 10 Monday on court two over A&M's Pierce Rollins. No. 21 Adam Walton defeated A&M's Schachter on court one, 6-2, 6-0, before the match was clinched by No. 114 Mitsui on court five over A&M's No. 105 Guido Marson, 6-1, 6-0.

"I was pleased with the doubles today against Tennessee, I thought we had chances in all three matches. We have to be able to hold on to a break of serve when we get one. Tennessee is a very good team and thought they won a lot of the three-all points early as we transitioned to singles that kept them on top. We have another top-five level team in Stanford tomorrow so we will need to play better in some spots.
