Athletics Among Campus Sustainability Champions Award Recipients for Second Year in a Row
May 10, 2022 | General, Sustainability
For the second straight year, Texas A&M Athletics is proud to have one of our own recognized by the Texas A&M University Office of Sustainability as a 2022 Sustainability Champion.
Lauren Lichterman, Athletics Graduate Assistant for Sustainability, was presented the award at the annual Sustainability Champions Breakfast last month on Earth Day, April 22. Her efforts focus on creating a strategic sustainability plan, specific to Athletics, to support the 2018 Campus Master Plan goals.
Leading a working group of over 60 cross-functional members, the plan aims to efficiently, deliberately, and responsibly preserve the environmental, social, and economic resources of Texas A&M Athletics for future generations.
In 2021, Rhian Murphy (Equestrian) won the Sustainability Champions award for her dedication to the 12th Man Green Team, the student-athlete led environmental sustainability initiative for the Athletics department, and her overall commitment to community service through her efforts in the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC).
