Fall Camp: Week 4 Press Conference Notebook
- Wednesday marked the first day of classes at Texas A&M, which de facto means the end of Fall Camp. The team was given off on purpose so they could focus on getting settled in to school, find their classes, and so forth. Fisher said he was "excited about camp" as it comes to a close.
- After going through Saturday's scrimmage and evaluating the tape, Fisher praised the youngsters. "I thought a lot of our players started grasping what we were doing offensively and defensively, and you could see them playing with much more confidence." He pointed out how that allows for the development of even more depth as the staff becomes comfortable with being able to put guys in games.
- Fisher was pleased with the growth of the young defensive linemen in between scrimmages. "They played faster than in first scrimmage. That comes from knowledge and confidence and we're very happy with that." He said those feelings really did translate across the board with all the young players.
- Because of the development of the young players, Fisher said it's allowed the team to feel much more comfortable in the rotation of players, and a bi-product of that is being able to rest some of the older guys as the season nears and letting them get reps only at certain times. "In that respect, I think our camp was a very good camp. I feel good about playing multiple guys at all the positions."
- Fisher said all three quarterbacks are playing well, but he did not name a starter at Wednesday's press conference despite multiple proddings by the media. "I haven't told you who my starting quarterback is...We're ready. We have a good idea of what's going on. We watch practice every day, and we'll announce it when we're ready."
- When asked if having all three playing well makes the decision more difficult, Fisher said no, it actually makes you more confident in game scenarios. "You have a multitude of guys that you think can play well and do things. You're learning what each guy does well and doesn't do well, and how you'd call the game for (each). All three are growing. When you have depth and guys who can play, that's a very good thing...especially at that position."
Upcoming Schedule
- Texas A&M practices Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and will participate in the 12th Man Foundation's Countdown to Kickoff that night. After a Sunday off the Aggies transition to game week on Monday. All practices are closed to the public.
