Optimum Texas A&M Basketball Reading Program a Big Success

Optimum, the local provider of internet, mobile, TV and phone services, is proud to partner with the Aggies to co-sponsor the Texas A&M Basketball Reading Program which encourages children to learn through reading.

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Optimum, the local provider of internet, mobile, TV and phone services, is proud to partner with the Aggies to co-sponsor the Texas A&M Basketball Reading Program which encourages children to learn through reading.

Over the winter break, nearly 22,000 local students were tasked with reading five books to earn complimentary tickets to a men's or women's basketball game for the 2022-23 season. In addition to receiving tickets to attend a basketball game at Reed Arena, students were recognized for their accomplishments with a celebratory moment during the game.

"Optimum is dedicated to supporting the communities we serve and ensuring students have access to experiences to support their growth and education," said Curt Allison, Market Engagement Specialist at Optimum. "We are proud that our partnership with Texas A&M University provides an opportunity for students to further their education and creates meaningful and lasting experiences."

The program was initiated nearly 15 years ago and works alongside elementary and intermediate schools in Bryan-College Station and the surrounding areas. This season, over 1,100 classrooms from 33 schools combined to read nearly 23,000 books.
