LOS ANGELES – Alyssa Thomas placed third in the women's discus competition to lead the Texas A&M men's and women's track & field teams into day two of the Trojan Invitational at Allyson Felix Field on Friday.

Thomas tossed the discus 148-1/45.15m, the third-best throw of her collegiate career, to place third in the field. The sophomore was almost two meters away from her personal best throw of 154-10/47.20m set last year at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

On the men's side, Ethan Sanders led the Aggies, placing fifth in the discus with a throw of 166-10/50.85m. Hunter Harrison was behind him in sixth, tossing 162-11/49.67m to top his previous personal best by four inches.

In the men's hammer throw, Alessio Pirruccio took eighth with a toss of 177-1/53.98m. The junior had three throws over 53 meters, with his best throw of the day just two centimeters away from the 54-meter mark.

The Aggies will continue competition at the Trojan Invitational on Saturday, starting with the women's long jump at 12 p.m. CT, with the women's 4x100m relay kicking off the running events, slated to begin at 2:05 p.m. CT.
