SEC Announces Redifer, Johnson as Brad Davis Community Service Award Winners

Haley Redifer from equestrian and Patrick Johnson from track & field were named Texas A&M's winners of the female and male Brad Davis Community Service Award Winners, the SEC announced.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Haley Redifer from the equestrian team and Patrick Johnson from the track & field team were named Texas A&M's winners of the female and male Brad Davis Community Service Award Winners, the Southeastern Conference announced Thursday.
 
Redifer and Johnson, along with female and male representatives from the other 13 SEC schools, will each receive a $5,000 post-graduate scholarship provided by the SEC. The pair are nominees for the Male and Female Brad Davis Community Service Leaders of the Year, which will be announced later in May where each winner will receive a $10,000 post-graduate scholarship, provided by the SEC.
 
Redifer, from Barboursville, Virginia, is the definition of an all-around student-athlete at Texas A&M. An active member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), she has served in a variety of leadership roles for the organization, including president (2019), vice president for diversity and inclusion (2021-22) and VP of student-athlete development (2022-23). Redifer was the co-organizer for Aggies CAN, which is SAAC's annual non-perishable food drive, in 2021 and 2022 after serving as a volunteer in 2018 and 2019. She also volunteered her time with Morgan's Message, REVved Up to Read, Keep Brazos Beautiful, BCS Together and the Boys and Girls Club. She also served as co-VP for research on the 12th Man Green Team, which seeks to protect the environment through sustainability.
 
Johnson, from DeSoto, Texas, is heavily involved in multiple extracurricular activities including The B.L.U.E.print (Black Leaders who Undertake Excellence), SAAC and Aggies CAN. A "Maroon Coat" for the Texas A&M Foundation, Johnson demonstrates exceptional character and leadership on and off the track. He also serves as a member of "The 12," which is the leadership group of the track & field team. Johnson serves as a Student Ambassador for the 12th Man Foundation. He served as director of Traditions Night, which introduces freshman student-athletes to Texas A&M's unique traditions. As a volunteer deputy registrar, Johnson successfully registered over 300 Texas A&M students to vote. He also traveled with the "Aggies for Haiti" mission trip where he helped build homes for local citizens and coordinated sports competitions for local youth.
 
The SEC Community Service Post-Graduate Scholarship is named for former Associate Commissioner Brad Davis, who succumbed to cancer on March 2, 2006.  He had been a member of the SEC staff since 1988, first serving as an assistant commissioner until 1994 when he was promoted to associate commissioner.
