Women’s Basketball Adds Highly Touted Transfer Lauren Ware

Texas A&M women's basketball head coach Joni Taylor announced the addition of transfer forward Lauren Ware on Thursday.

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M women's basketball head coach Joni Taylor announced the addition of transfer forward Lauren Ware on Thursday.
 
"We are very excited to have Lauren join our family," Taylor said. "She brings a wealth of experience and has competed on a National Championship stage. She is a two-way player that will excel in our style of play. Lauren will have an immediate impact on our program. We cannot wait for her to get to Aggieland. 12th Man, get ready!"
 
The incoming redshirt junior spent the last three seasons at Arizona and is the No. 31-ranked transfer prospect, according to ESPN.com. Ware sat out last year due to injury but in her sophomore, campaign made 22 starts and appeared in 23 games while averaging 5.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per contest. In her freshman season, the 6-5 forward appeared in 27 games and earned 2021 Honorable Mention Pac-12 All-Freshman honors.
 
On the international stage, the Bismarck, North Dakota, native won gold as a member of the 2021 USA U19 World Cup Team. With USA Basketball, she averaged 5.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game en route to the gold.
 
Ware entered college as the No. 13-ranked prospect in the nation according to ProspectsNation.com and the third-best post player in the nation by ESPN.com. Ware was named the 2017-18 and 2018-19 Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of North Dakota and averaged 17.3 points, 11.1 rebounds, 4.6 blocks and 2.1 assists per game while leading Century High school to a Class A NDHSAA State Championship during her junior season with a perfect 27-0 record.
 
Ware was also a standout volleyball player. She rated as the No. 50 prospect in the country by Prep Volleyball and was the 2018-19 Gatorade Player of the Year.
