LaViolette Named to SEC All-Freshman Team

Texas A&M outfielder Jace LaViolette has been named to the SEC All-Freshman team, per a release from league officials on Monday.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Texas A&M outfielder Jace LaViolette has been named to the SEC All-Freshman team, per a release from league officials on Monday.

LaViolette is one of 12 freshmen from around the league named to the SEC All-Freshman team and is the seventh Aggie since 2013 to do so. He built his resume with a rookie year to remember and enters this week's SEC Tournament hitting at a .306 clip and leads the team with 18 home runs, 57 RBI and 16 stolen bases.

The 18 home runs are a Texas A&M record for freshmen, breaking the previous mark of 17 homers hit by John Byington in 1987. LaViolette took hold of that record with three home runs on Friday at Mississippi State, his fourth multi-homer game of the season.

LaViolette built the bulk of his 2023 ledger with his play within the SEC, ranking in the top 10 in the league in hitting and on-base percentage during league-only games and leading the league with an .835 slugging percentage against SEC opponents.

He was named the SEC Freshman of the Week on April 10 after a big series in the win at Auburn and has been on fire of late with multiple RBI in five of his seven games and was named the SEC Player of the Week earlier on Monday after his performance at Mississippi State in the final week of the regular season.

LaViolette and the rest of the Aggies will open the 2023 SEC Tournament on Tuesday in the single-elimination round vs Tennessee.
