BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M golfers Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio and Jennie Park were named first and second team Golf Channel Preseason All-Americans, respectively, the organization announced on Friday.
Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio began her collegiate career this week at the Carmel Cup at the historic Pebble Beach Golf Links. In her first collegiate round, the freshman shot 2-under 70. The Spaniard is ranked as the No. 2 amateur in the world by the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
Park is a fifth-year senior and a two-time All-American. The Carrollton, Texas, native holds the third-lowest stroke average in school history at 72.24 and was a pivotal piece in the Aggies winning the 2023 SEC Championship and going to the NCAA Semifinals in 2022 and 2023.
The Maroon & White was voted as the No. 3 team in the country by the World Golf Coaches Association and the No. 4 team in the nation by the Golf Channel. The Aggies are entering the third year under head coach Gerrod Chadwell, who last season won a school-record five tournament titles and has brought the team to the Final Four of the NCAA Championships in back-to-back years.
