Aggies On Top after Day One of the Art Adamson Invite

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 13 Texas A&M men's swimming & diving team leads the pack after day one with a score of 492, at the Art Adamson Invitational in the Rec Center Natatorium.
The 200 free relay team of Baylor Nelson, Connor Foote, Carter Nelson and Clayton Conklin came out on top in with a time of 1:18.23 to kick off finals.
A&M dominated the 200 IM placing first through fifth. Baylor Nelson finished on top with a season-best 1:41.33, Logan Brown came in second with a career-best 1:43.07, third went to Alex Sanchez who also earned a career-best 1:44.42, Vincent Ribeiro was fourth with a 1:44.85 and right behind in fifth was Munzy Kabbara who registered a career-best 1:45.04. All of these times an NCAA B cut.
The Aggies continued to put their depth on display as they placed second through fourth in the 50 free. Foote notched a second-place finish (19.57), Conklin took third (20.00) and Carter Nelson was in fourth (20.10).
Wednesday's competition ended with a bang as the relay team of Thomas Shomper, Alex Sanchez, Foote and Baylor Nelson earning an NCAA A cut with a time of 3:04.62 in the 400 medley. Shomper's 46.04 leadoff leg marks the fourth-fastest 100 back time in program history and Foote's 100 fly split of 44.99 is the fastest time in program history.
The trio of divers in Allen Bottego, Victor Povzner and Rhett Hensley secured the top three spots on the 1-meter board. Bottego in first with a score of 381.80, Povzner in second scoring a 375.30 and Hensley placed third with a 362.30.

Prelims for the Art Adamson Invitational will start tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. and will be in long course meters and finals, in short course yards, will start at 5:30 p.m. Diving prelims will begin at 12 p.m.
