BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Optimum, the local provider of internet, mobile, TV and phone services, is proud to once again partner with the Aggies to co-sponsor the Texas A&M Basketball Reading Program which encourages children to learn through reading.
The program has been running for over 15 years, working alongside elementary and intermediate schools in Bryan-College Station and the surrounding areas. This winter, local students who have participated in the program will be attending select men's and women's basketball games as a thank you for their accomplishment in the classroom.
Classrooms and students that have participated in this season's reading program will be recognized at four basketball games this winter beginning with Sunday's men's contest against Memphis. Other reading program games are the Dec. 31 women's game against Texas A&M-Commerce, the Jan. 6 men's game against LSU and the Jan. 7 women's game against Auburn.
Optimum and Texas A&M Athletics are hoping to best last season's mark of over 22,000 books read through the program.
