White Takes Victory Over Maroon in Annual Scrimmage

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The White Team came out victorious as the Texas A&M equestrian team kicked off the 2023-24 season by hosting its annual Maroon & White Scrimmage on Sunday at The Hildebrand Equine Complex.
The meet opened with the White team picking up three points in fences, led by Most Outstanding Performer Ali Treuting with a high score of 85. Also earning points for the White were Alexis Ortiz and Bella Kay. Scoring for the Maroon were Claire Campbell and Katie Triantos.
Brooke Brombach, Devan Thomas, and Karsen Kaiden led the way to a 3-2 Maroon victory in Flat, tying it up with the White team. Scoring the two points for the White were Lillian Reynolds and Most Outstanding Performer Maeve O'Donovan with a score of 77.
On the Western side, Horsemanship ended in a 4-4 deadlock. The Most Outstanding Performer came from the Maroon squad as Ella Petak scored a 77. Following her and adding to the Maroon tally were Ellie Gerbrandt, Hanna Olaussen, and Megan Braun. For the White, Ella McCullough, Kaylynn Heitman, Cori Cansdale, and Marina Caputo earned points.
The scrimmage came down to Reining where White came out on top 4-1. Fifth-year senior Emmy Lu Marsh helped secure the win for the White and finished as the Most Outstanding Performer with a score of 73. Keesa Luers, Dylanne Rodriguez, and Anna Harris each added points as well for the White squad. The lone scorer for the Maroon was Lauren Hanson.
The Aggies will kick off the regular season by hosting Baylor on September 29, then will open SEC play by hosting Georgia on October 6.
