espnW Brings Campus Conversations to Aggieland
In partnership with espnW, the Athletics Department recently hosted "Campus Conversations"--a special event that drew hundreds of female Texas A&M students to Reed Arena.
Designed to create discussions that support, educate, and inspire female student-athletes during their collegiate careers, along with preparing them for success after graduation, espnW's Campus Conversations was making its first visit to the Aggies' campus.
The two-hour event featured dinner, a star-studded panel and breakout sessions for those in attendance, which included over 250 student-athletes and another 50 from the College of Education and Human Development.
“The espnW Campus Conversation event was a phenomenal time for our student-athletes," Associate Athletics Director for Engagement Rebekah Parkhill said. "The work that espnW is doing to prepare female student-athletes for success working in the 'real world' after graduation greatly aligns with our mission to create opportunities through championship athletics. For our student-athletes to hear that message from ESPN executives and Texas A&M former letterwomen was extremely impactful because, as former student-athletes, they can relate to what our current class is experiencing and therefore better develop them as leaders.”

Joining ESPN coordinating producer Ande Wall on the panel were four former A&M student-athletes--ESPN softball analyst Amanda Scarborough '08; motivational speaker, mindset coach and swimming Olympic Gold medalist Breeja Larson '14; All-American and Under Armour track athlete Jazmine Fray '19; and SEC soccer champion, Women's Final Four participant and current JP Morgan Associate Sarah Shaw Eaton '16.
Attendees not only had the ability to learn and listen and talk with the panelists, but also got to dive deeper into topics through small breakout sessions led by several other former student-athletes.
"I really enjoyed the espnW event," women's basketball's Jada Malone said. "The panel of women were truly inspiring and I feel like I learned so many things that will help me from this point forward! It was amazing to learn about how I can use my skills from being a collegiate student-athlete outside of college and my sport.”
Texas A&M Athletics would also like to thank partners T-Mobile and Adidas for their support of Campus Conversations.
