Aggies Win Season Opener Against UIW

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M men's swimming & diving team defeated Incarnate Word, 198.5-100.5, Friday evening at the Rec Center Natatorium.
Thomas Shomper, Alex Sanchez, Connor Foote and Seth Reno started the meet off strong in the 200 medley relay recording a 1:28.95.
Baylor Nelson competed in the 1,000 free for the first time in his collegiate career and secured first place in swimming a 9:12.37. Nelson also came in fist in the 100 fly with a 48.40.
Freshman Logan Brown made a mark in his college debut, touching the wall first in the 100 breast with a time of 55.20 and the 200 IM registering a 1:51.05, also placing second in the 200 breast clocking in at 2:01.18.
Victor Povzner scored a 453.68 on the 3-meter, this beats his previous record where he scored a 436.65 against TCU last year. Allen Bottego beat out his personal best on the 1-meter scoring 410.93, this also improves upon his performance from the meet against TCU last year where his previous best was a 400.05.
All five members of the men's diving team secured qualification scores for NCAA Zones on both the 3-meter and 1-meter.
The meet concluded at the end of the 400 free relay. The group of Trey Dickey, Clayton Conklin, Foote and Nelson came from behind to take first with a time of 2:59.27.

The team is headed to the double-dual in Columbia, South Carolina, where they will compete against the Gamecocks and the Virginia Tech Hokies.
