The Texas A&M baseball team's freshman class has been ranked as the fourth-best in the country by D1Baseball.

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M baseball team's freshman class has been ranked as the fourth-best in the country by D1Baseball.

The class, which consists of 19 rookies, features four Perfect Game Top 75 Freshmen in Caden Sorrell (No. 28), Gavin Grahovac (No. 40), Weston Moss (No. 70) and Kaiden Wilson (No. 75).

THE HEADLINERS: Last year, the Aggies had one of the nation's premier freshmen in lefthanded hitting outfielder Jace LaViolette. That could very well be the case yet again this spring with the addition of California product Gavin Grahovac. Grahovac can play in the outfield or infield, but the Aggies are playing him at the hot corner for the upcoming season. He was solid there defensively this past fall. But his greatest attributes are at the plate. At 6-foot-2, 220 pounds, Grahovac physically reminds me a lot of former Texas Tech standout and Rangers slugger Josh Jung. Grahovac has a sweet swing and some big-time pop from the right side. Everything off his bat is hard contact. Clearly, there's always a transition with any freshman to big-time Division I Baseball. But Grahovac looks ready made from the start. On the mound, the Aggies have a pair of ultra-talented arms to watch this spring. The first is righthander Isaac Morton, who might not be in school if not for an injury last season. Morton is a 6-foot-3, 190-pounder, with serious projection, who was up to 95-96 mph with his fastball this past fall, while also showing a slider in the mid-80s to go with a changeup. Morton has good poise and is slated to be an instant impact arm. The same could go for lefty and Maryland prep product Kaiden Wilson. Wilson is up to 96-97 mph with his fastball and reminds Jim Schlossnagle of former TCU standout lefty Brandon Finnegan in terms of his stuff and makeup.

CONTRIBUTORS: There are several position players to watch as the 2024 campaign nears. Let's start with talented outfielders Caden Sorrell and Jett Johnston. Sorrell is a strong and athletic outfielder who is an above average runner and could actually start for the Aggies this spring. He has elite bat speed and good bat to ball skills, but will need to make sure he's spraying the ball around the field a little more moving forward. As for Johnston, he's an aggressive, hard-nosed hitter who does a fantastic job of using the entire field. He could be used at a variety of positions, and actually could have a future on the mound, where he possesses a fastball up to 95 mph … Infielder Jack Bell is yet another talented freshman to watch in this class. Bell had an ankle injury late in the fall that kept me from seeing him live, but he made a strong impression to the coaching staff with his hard-nosed approach to go with pullside power and great bat to ball skills. He's a decent runner and his versatility from a defensive standpoint will allow him to get on the field sooner rather than later. Also keep an eye on righthanded pitcher Brett Antolick. Antolick has a strong and durable body, and though he sits in the low-90s with his heater, he can get up to 95-96 mph with the offering on a good day. The changeup is his best secondary offering, and the slider continues to make strides.

Texas A&M opens its 2024 season on Friday, February 16 at 6 p.m. as they welcome McNeese to Blue Bell Park for a three-game set.
