No. 12 Women’s Golf Turns Attention to Puerto Rico Classic

The No. 12 women's golf team is set to open tournament play for the spring at the Puerto Rico Classic at the Grand Reserve Golf Club Feb. 4-6.

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - The No. 12 women's golf team is set to open tournament play for the spring at the Puerto Rico Classic at the Grand Reserve Golf Club Feb. 4-6.
 
Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell will be bringing a lineup of Adela Cernousek, Jennie Park, Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio, Sky Sudberry and Blanca Fernández García-Poggio. Additionally, Zoe Slaughter and Mia Nixon will be competing as individuals.
 
The Aggies are fresh off a match-play victory over No. 5 USC where they won 4-2 over the 2023 national runner-up. Texas A&M had a loaded fall schedule and finished in the top-five of all four tournaments.
 
Cernousek is leading the team this season with a 70.22 stroke average and finished second at the prestigious Stephens Cup earlier this season with a career-low 11-under 205. Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio is the No. 2 ranked amateur in the world and finished runner-up at the 2023 World Amateur Team Championship in the fall.
 
Fans can follow the action at golfstat.com. The three-day tournament will begin on Sunday at 6:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
