BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M soccer team fortified its attack with the addition of Brie Severns, a forward who spent the last four seasons at Kansas, head coach G Guerrieri announced Wednesday.

"Brie is a brave and athletic 5-foot-10 striker who I know can do amazing things at Texas A&M," Guerrieri said. "She is a very intelligent young woman with a very bright future. We can't wait to get her here on campus with our players and staff."

Severns, who is completing her bachelor's degree at Kansas this spring, will arrive in Aggieland as a grad transfer with two years of eligibility. During her time with the Jayhawks, Severns appeared in 47 matches, including 31 starts. She logged 27 points for her career with 10 goals and seven assists.

"After her Covid season, Brie had a great 2021 campaign," Guerrieri said. "She had an injury-riddled medical redshirt season in 2022 and worked through that last year. She's an exciting addition to the team."

Severns' most prolific campaign came in 2021, playing in 19 matches with 13 starts. She tallied 18 points on six goals and six assists. She earned United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week and Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on October 13 after scoring game-winning goals in back-to-back games against Baylor and West Virginia.

Last season, Severns played in 13 matches, including 10 starts, logging five points on two goals and an assist. In 2022, the Lee's Summit, Missouri, product started two matches before a season-ending injury.

In her rookie campaign, the elongated 2020-21 Covid campaign, Severns played in 13 matches, including six starts. She scored two goals on the season, both coming against Oklahoma.

Severns is stellar in the classroom earning Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team in 2020 and Academic All-Big 12 First Team in 2021.

With the addition of Severns, Texas A&M has added four transfers in the offseason, including forwards Kennedy Clark (Xavier) and Shae O'Rourke (South Carolina) and midfielder Leah Pirro (Grand Canyon).

"The emergence of the transfer portal in the last couple years has changed the complexion of NCAA women's soccer and allowed us at Texas A&M to make quick adjustments to some needs we identified for the team at the end of the prior season," Guerrieri said. "In 2022, we were able to bolster our midfield and in 2023 our two leading scorers came from the transfer portal with Jaz (Wilkinson) and Sammy (Smith). This year we dipped into the portal looking for proven collegiate goal scorers. All four players we have signed have already received major conference and/or regional honors and three of the four will be in Aggieland enrolled in classes this spring as we get ready for 2024."
