SEATTLE – The No. 9 Texas A&M women's tennis team is set to face the No. 10 Texas Longhorns in the first round of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, Friday Feb. 8 at the Seattle Tennis Club. First serve is set for 8:30 p.m. CT.

The Aggies are making their third consecutive trip to the National Indoors to face off against the best in the country. The SEC ties the Pac-12 with four teams competing this weekend. A&M is one of 16 teams that qualified for the indoor championships, sweeping Northwestern and TCU at the Mitchell Tennis Center at the ITA Kickoff Weekend for the bid.

In the opening round, the Maroon & White will face sixth-seeded Texas, marking the first meeting in five years between the foes. A&M holds an undefeated 2-0 record against the Longhorns at the ITA National Indoors, as well as a 5-2 all-time series advantage.

"Our team is looking forward to competing here in Seattle at the National Indoors," head coach Mark Weaver said. "All the best teams in the nation are here and it really brings a lot of excitement in the air as a whole with everyone competing for the ultimate prize of a national title."

The ITA released their first set of Spring singles and doubles rankings prior to the start of the national indoors. Mary Stoiana remains as the No. 1 player in the nation, while Mia Kupres and Nicole Khirin rank No. 24 and No. 32, respectively. The duo of Stoiana and Kupres also held on to the No. 3 spot in doubles.

Last year, the Aggies defeated San Diego and Ohio State before falling to the eventual tournament champions, North Carolina in the semifinals. Stoiana led the group from court 1, earning All-Tournament Team honors for her performance.
