No. 12 Men’s Tennis Falls to No. 2 TCU, 4-2, in ITA Indoor Quarterfinals

NEW YORK – The No. 12 Texas A&M men's tennis team fell to the No. 2 TCU Horned Frogs, 4-2, in the quarterfinals of the 2024 ITA National Indoor Championships on Saturday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
 
"I thought we responded well and played a very good doubles point today," head coach Steve Denton said. "Against really good teams, we can clean up a few things. But I thought our team learned that we can compete at a high level this season. Looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow against another top-10 team."
 
The Maroon & White (7-1) started strong in doubles play with Raphael Perot/Tiago Pires getting an upset win over No. 20 Duncan Chan/Lui Maxted on court 3, 6-4. Luke Casper/JC Roddick secured the doubles point for the Aggies with a dominant performance against Jake Fearnley/Jack Pinnington on court 2, 6-1. Giulio Perego/Togan Tokac were ahead of No. 8 Sebastian Gorzny/Pedro Vives on court 1, 4-3, before A&M clinched doubles.
 
TCU (8-0) responded in singles, securing three straight points to take the lead, 3-1. Tokac got the Aggies within reach with a ranked victory on court 3 against No. 20 Pedro Vives (6-3, 7-6(2)). However, the Horned Frogs would eventually clinch the match and advance after winning the fourth and final point on court 6.
 
The Maroon & White will play the loser of No. 9 Arizona versus No. 14 Wake Forest matchup on Sunday. Time and place are yet to be determined. The tournament home page can be found at wearecollegetennis.com.
