No. 12 Men’s Tennis Takes Down No. 16 South Carolina, 4-3

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 12 Texas A&M men's tennis team defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks, 4-3, for the second time this season, Sunday at the Carolina Indoor Tennis Center.
 
"I thought it was a great effort by our team," head coach Steve Denton said. "We competed very well today on all courts and that is what it was going to take to get a road win. We played solid doubles and fought together today which was great to see especially after the outcome on Friday night. Happy for our guys."
 
Luke Casper/JC Roddick dominated Lucas da Silva/James Story on court 2, 6-2. Clinching the doubles point for the Aggies (10-3, 1-1 SEC) were Tiago Pires/Kenner Taylor who beat Sean Daryabeigi/Jelani Sarr on court 3, 6-4.
 
The No. 16 Gamecocks (6-7, 0-2 SEC) responded in singles with a win on court 1 to tie it up at 1-1. Brayden Michna got the lead back for the Maroon & White with a victory on court 6 Daryabeigi (6-2, 6-3) and Casper extended the lead, taking down Silva on court 5 (7-5, 6-4). Clinching the match for the Aggies was No. 86 Giulio Perego who came back from behind to beat James Story on court 3 in a three-set battle (4-6, 6-3, 6-4).
 
Texas A&M returns home, Friday, March 8, with a doubleheader against UIW at 12 p.m. and Mississippi State at 6 p.m.
