BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M's JC Roddick was named the SEC Men's Tennis Player of the Week after going 4-0 on the court and helping the Aggies pick up two conference wins, the league announced Wednesday.

The junior earned his first SEC weekly award and joined teammate Raphael Perot as Aggies claiming the honor this season. Roddick began the week with his fourth ranked singles victory of the year, beating No. 27 Petar Jovanovic of No. 22 Mississippi State in a three-set thriller. The win helped A&M secure a 7-0 sweep of the Bulldogs.

The San Antonio native followed up with a dominant showing against John Hallquist Lithén of Ole Miss in straight sets, providing A&M a 5-2 triumph over the Rebels. Additionally, Roddick picked up two doubles wins with partner Luke Casper.

Roddick has an 18-7 singles record and a 12-4 ledger with Casper in doubles action this season. The Aggie has Texas A&M (13-3, 3-1 SEC) ranked 12th in the country and third in the SEC standings.

The Maroon & White take on UTRGV (noon) and No. 1 Ohio State (6 p.m.) today at the Mitchell Tennis Center. Their next conference match will take place against No. 8 Tennessee at 6 p.m. in Aggieland.
