Aggies Win Six Events on Second Day of Carolina Spring Break Classic

The Texas A&M track & field team won six events on the second day of the Carolina Spring Break Classic Friday at the Pista Atletica Basilio Rodriguez.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The Texas A&M track & field team won six events on the second day of the Carolina Spring Break Classic Friday at the Pista Atletica Basilio Rodriguez.
 
The Aggies 4x100m relay squads got their first taste of action this season, and despite inclement weather, both teams claimed victories. On the women's side, Semira Killebrew, Camryn Dickson, Laila Hackett and Leeah Burr crossed the line in 44.44. In the men's section, the tandem of Isaiah Teer, Devante Mount, Omarion Ferguson and Pierre Goree ran 40.15 for the win.
 
In the field for the men, Ethan Sanders added the third win of the day in the discus. He recorded a toss of 48.72m/159-10 in his season debut. Jaden Harris claimed the Maroon & White's fourth victory right after in the triple jump, leaping 14.73m/48-4.
 
Carlie Weiser got the women started in the field, as she made her outdoor debut for the Maroon & White. The freshman recorded a toss of 47.45m/155-8 to win the fifth event of the day for Texas A&M. Nissi Kabongo followed suit in the high jump, adding the sixth title for the Aggies clearing 1.70m/5-7. Jade Johnson and Alyssa Rodriguez wrapped up the field events in the long jump, leaping 5.55m/18-2.5 and 5.27m/17-3.5, respectively.
 
The 200m groups concluded the day, as the women secured three of the top-six finishes. Joniar Thomas was the top-ranking member of the Maroon & White, placing second in 24.10, while Burr finished fourth in 24.51 and Timara Chapman ranked sixth in 24.78. Teer ran the fastest time on the men's side in 21.67, closely followed by Goree who topped his heat in 21.83.
