TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 17 Texas A&M women's golf team jumped two spots on the team leaderboard into a tie for first after firing a 6-under 282 at the end of the second round on Saturday of the MountainView Collegiate at the Preserve at Saddlebrooke.

"We had a better day today with a great finish heading into tomorrow," head coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "Hopefully we can carry that finish into the final round. We are starting to see us stack a lot of things on top of each other. All you can ask for is a chance on that final day, and we have put ourselves in a spot to win tomorrow."

Texas A&M (-5) turned in the second-best scorecard of any team in the field during day two, only behind Iowa State's (-4) 11-under 277. The Aggies are tied with South Florida at 5-under 571 thru 36 holes and have a one-shot advantage on Houston and Iowa State.

Blanca Fernández GarcĂa-Poggio shot a 2-under 70 in round two and was tied for fifth at the conclusion of the second day. The Spainard eagled No. 8, the same hole Adela Cernousek eagled on day one, to highlight her round.

Jennie Park also fired a 2-under 70 and was tied for 14th thru 36. Cayetana Fernández GarcĂa-Poggio was two shots over par heading into the final four holes of the day but proceeded to birdie three of those holes to secure a 1-under 71. The freshman was tied for 35th heading into the final 18.

Cernousek turned in another round below par, shooting a 1-under 71 on day two. The junior held onto a share of 12th after Saturday's round. Zoe Slaughter rounded out the starting lineup tied for 40th and Mia Nixon tied for 71st as an individual.
