BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 4 Texas A&M baseball team (22-3) remained perfect in midweek action Tuesday night, defeating Houston Christian (7-17) 6-3 from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.

Junior right-hander Chris Cortez earned the win for the Aggies after retiring the lone batter he faced in the third. Redshirt freshman Luke Jackson earned a no-decision in his first career start after striking out two over 2.2 scoreless frames.

Hayden Schott led the way offensively for the Maroon & White, finishing 2-for-5 at the dish to go along with a game-best three RBI. Ali Camarillo was the only other Aggie to record a multi-hit performance on the night as the junior went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

In the third, the Aggies opened the scoring as Schott beat out an infield single with the bases loaded to put Texas A&M in front 1-0. Â

The Maroon & White extended their lead in the fourth, 2-0, as Braden Montgomery drew a bases-loaded RBI walk.

Schott came through again for the Aggies in the seventh as the senior plated Ted Burton, who reached on a walk, to push the lead to 3-0. The senior later came around to score on an RBI bunt single down the third base line by Camarillo. Â

In the eighth, Texas A&M tacked on another pair of runs as Burton drew a bases-loaded RBI walk and Schott followed with an RBI groundout to stretch the advantage to 6-0.

The Huskies broke through on the scoreboard in the ninth with three runs to make the final 6-3. In the frame, Houston Christian was held without a hit but walked four times and drew one hit-by-pitch.
