Top-Seeded Aggies Come Up Short in SEC Championship Final

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION - The top-seeded Texas A&M equestrian team (9-4) fell to No. 3 seed Auburn (9-5), 13-6, in the SEC Championship Final Saturday afternoon at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.
 
Keesa Luers and Ali Trueting were named to the SEC All-Championship team for Reining and Fences, respectively.
 
The Maroon & White captured the first event of the final, winning Reining by a score of 3-2. Lauren Hanson put the first point on the board for Texas A&M with a narrow 71.17-70.67 victory. Emmy-Lu Marsh followed with her 32nd career win after totaling a score of 71.17. The victory moved Marsh into fourth all-time in in program history for Reining. Luers picked up the final point of the event for Aggies, totaling a score of 72.17.
 
After failing to score a point in Flat, Texas A&M trailed 7-3 at the break.
 
In Fences, the Aggies put together a record-breaking day despite a 3-2 loss. Devon Thomas posted a 94 which surpassed the program record that was previously set at 92. The record only stood momentarily though as Treuting followed with a 94.67 to establish a new program best.
 
Cori Cansdale captured the only point for the Maroon & White in Horsemanship with a 75.67 as Texas A&M fell 3-1 in the event.
