BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M's Abigail Martin was named SEC Freshman of the Week following her personal-best showing in the discus at the Battle on the Bayou, the league announced Tuesday.

Martin garnered the first SEC weekly honor of her career, as she continued the impressive start to her freshman campaign, improving her personal best for the second-straight week. She recorded a toss of 56.92m/186-9 which bettered her mark on the Aggies all-time list, as she remains at the No. 3 spot. Her performance in Baton Rouge ranked her as the No. 1 freshman in the country, No. 17 overall in the nation and fourth in the conference.

Martin and the Aggies return to action this weekend for the 44 Farms Team Invitational April 5-6.
