BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M soccer team rolled to a 7-0 victory over the Texas Southern Tigers in Tuesday's exhibition action at Ellis Field.
Sydney Becerra and Kennedy Clark each registered two goals for the Aggies. Grace Ivey and MaKhiya McDonald both tallied one goal and one assist. Jazmine Wilkinson added a goal while Mia Pante contributed two assists and Taylor Jernigan offered up an assist.
In a match which contained three 25-minute periods, the Maroon & White overwhelmed TSU to the tune of a 23-4 advantage in shots, including 15-1 in shots-on-goal.
Texas A&M opened the scoring seven minutes into the first period. Facing goal at the penalty spot, Pante sent a pass to her left setting up a Wilkinson marker from 10 yards out.
The next score came midway through the second period. McDonald beat the Tigers' last defender 20 yards out and raced toward the keeper with Clark on her side. With the goalie committed to snuffing out McDonald's run, she smoothly tapped a pass to Clark for the empty net goal.
McDonald started a flurry of third period goals knocking in a cross from Pante three minutes in. Becerra notched both her goals within a two-minute span midway through the stanza and Ivey and Clark capped off the scoring in the waning moments.
Maysen Veronda, Sydney Fuller and Grace McClellan each played 25 minutes in the goal to combine on the shutout.
In 315 minutes of action this spring, the Aggies have outscored opponents 18-2. Texas A&M played Tuesday's match with its leading scorer from this spring as Shae O'Rourke is playing in Germany with the United States Under-20 Women's National Team.
The Aggies return to action at Ellis Field Sunday for a 2 p.m. match against TCU.
