BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M's Mary Stoiana was named SEC Player of the Week following her four-win weekend versus Missouri and Arkansas, the league announced Wednesday. This is Stoiana's second weekly honor of the season, and 13th of her career.
Â
In the opening match of the week versus Missouri, No. 5 Stoiana and partner Mia Kupres bested No. 65 Mae and Inah Canete on court 1 (6-3). She continued that momentum in singles play with a dominant performance over Mae Canete, dropping only one game in the match (6-1, 6-0).
Â
Stoiana concluded her week versus the Razorbacks, where she and Kupres faced No. 37 Indianna Spink/Morgan Cross. The duo claimed another 6-3 victory, the win also marked their 15th dual match doubles win this season. Closing her undefeated weekend, No. 1 Stoiana downed No. 26 Carolina Gomez (6-2, 6-2) for her 10th SEC singles win of the year, leaving her one shy of 100 singles victories for her career.
Â
Stoiana and the Aggies conclude their SEC regular season at home this weekend, where they face Auburn and Alabama on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
