Aggies Drop Series Opener, 2-0, to No. 13 Alabama

The No. 12 Texas A&M softball team dropped the series opener, 2-0, to No. 13 Alabama, Saturday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium.

TUSCALOOSA – The No. 12 Texas A&M softball team dropped the series opener, 2-0, to No. 13 Alabama, Saturday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium.

Texas A&M (31-9, 10-6 SEC) out-hit the Crimson Tide, 6-2, but doomed itself batting 1-for-14 with runners on and leaving eight runners on base. The Aggies leadoff hitters were 3-for-7 at the plate, while Texas A&M successfully reached a baserunner in all but the final frame.

Amari Harper and Koko Wooley combined to go 3-for-7 and strung together back-to-back one-out singles in the fifth, before consecutive flyouts spoiled the scoring opportunity.

Alabama (30-8, 7-6 SEC) capitalized off their two hits in the second inning with a single and walk before a two-out double to left center plated a pair of runs.

Emiley Kennedy moved to 15-7 on the season after pitching 6.0 innings and striking out four, while yielding two hits and two runs.
