ATHENS – The No. 12 Texas A&M women's tennis team is set to face off against No. 32 Vanderbilt Friday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in the quarterfinal round of the 2024 SEC Women's Tennis Tournament with first serve set for 11 a.m.

"There's nothing like the post season and our team is excited to compete," head coach Mark Weaver said. "The SEC Tournament always brings an extra sense of excitement to the air and our group will be ready to go come match time."

The Aggies (20-6) kickstart their postseason campaign as the No. 2 seed in the SEC Tournament where they will face No. 7 seeded Vanderbilt (12-9) who secured its spot in the quarterfinal round after defeating Ole Miss in its opening match, 4-2.

Last time out, the Maroon & White clinched their third-straight SEC championship, topping the Crimson Tide 4-0 Sunday. The Aggies are on an eight-match win-streak, led by No. 1 Mary Stoiana, who finished the regular season 19-2 in dual match singles.

Texas A&M holds an 11-5 record versus the Commodores and has won the last seven matchups. The Maroon & White dominated Vanderbilt in their previous meeting this season, notching a 7-0 sweep at home. Last season, the Aggies defeated the Commodores 4-1 in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals on their way to the championship match.

Along with Stoiana, No. 19 Nicole Khirin and No. 41 Mia Kupres make up the remaining ranked singles players on the squad, while Kupres/Stoiana rank No. 3 in the country in doubles.

The Maroon & White added a familiar face to the lineup in preparation for the postseason. Two-time ITA All-American Carson Branstine rejoins the squad after being sidelined in 2022-23 season due to injury.
A&M has plenty of SEC Tournament experience, as it has reached the final in each of the past three seasons, claiming a tournament title in the 2022 season.
